New Homecare Medicines Services Framework
28 November 2017

The East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub (on behalf of the NHS Commercial Alliance) is pleased to launch a new Homecare Medicines Services framework agreement available nationally to all NHS trusts or other publicly funded bodies.  This framework offers Commissioning Authorities a compliant route to market for any opportunities identified in relation to trigger three of NHS England’s Hospital Medicines Optimisation CQUIN.

Homecare Medicines Services are provided to 23,000 NHS patients, with an annual spend of £170 million in the East of England region alone. This continues to expand with the rising number of patients requiring treatment and increasing medicines costs.

The EoECPH has built on the success of previous homecare frameworks with a procurement approach which delivers maximum flexibility to meet the changing needs of trusts whilst retaining competitive pricing. This is a multi-lot, unranked framework agreement covering low-tech (Lot 1), mid-tech (Lot 2) and high-tech Homecare Medicines Services (Lot 4), as well as specific provision for a compounded antibiotics Homecare Medicines Services (Lot 3).

This framework is the largest on the market and has invigorated competition in the market with 16 suppliers awarded across all lots and delivers sustainable pricing. The framework is underpinned by the national standard template specification for homecare medicines services, adapted to meet the specific current and future needs of member organisations.
